| The political clock is politicking. I never much understood why these bills were conceived in the first place. It's outright madness. Naturally, everyone is pissed every time this same bill by a different name comes up, because it basically gives the US government free reign over the internet.
Everyone's used to the internet being a rather free, ethereal place, and the fact that the bills would grant the US government the freedom to see everything on your computer, among ridiculous violations of privacy, doesn't help much |

| I don't even follow them anymore, simply because its a waste of time. They are never going to get one of those bills to pass, and I can't understand why they can't just get it through their heads. Its pathetic |

| Problem is, if people don't care they can push it through, and then we're all screwed. "The surest way for evil to win, is for good men to do nothing." |

| Well, surely you're a self-interested man. Most everyone looks out for themselves. And if this stupidity passes, this site and probably 99.999% of the internet sites you visit are royally screwed.
The vast majority of the internet is either hosted on servers on US soil, or in places where the US can still use dirty tricks to get a hold on them. If not that, they can definitely force the systems that allow you to get to the site in the first place to block them. |
